hooray for google, even though, as my boss said:

Yet, it did come through for me when I got finished with my renumbering our network and moved to mdadm. Man pages? Pshaw. I have google. I know someone else out there has done this at least once, and written about it.
Create a raid with 13 devices? No problem! Add a hot swap to the md raid? No problem! What did I eat for dinner last night? No problem! errr..
